Abstract: Santafeite, known only from New Mexico, USA, is re-examined using single-crystal X-ray and microprobe techniques. The new idealized formula, consistent with space group requirements, is (Mn2+, Fe3+,Al,Mg)8(Mn4+, Mn2+)8 (Ca,Sr,Na)12[(VO4),(AsO4)]16(OH)20 · 8H2O.
