Abstract: A new method for measuring the crystallinity index of quartz is presented. It is based on the measurement of the intensity of the first derivative of the infrared absorption spectrum at the shoulder at c. 1145 cm−1. The results correlate well with X-ray and D.T.A. crystallinity measurements.
