Michelle_577Radon Mine is in Big Indian District of San Juan County, Utah. It is a former uranium mine with an occurrence of whewellite and celestite in vuggy openings along the "Radon" fault. At this fault, the Chinle is composed of interbedded lenses of medium-grained sandstone, fine-grained sandstone, mudstone, and claystone. The "carbonaceous trash" found in the lower part of the Chinle Formation likely provided the oxalic acid required for the formation of the whewellite.
