Mineral locality data provided by mindat.org

The Mineral Evolution database is currently under development.

The goal of this page is to present localities at which the mineral is found, and estimates of the oldest possible geologic age of the minerals at these localities.

Locality Notes from all Ages at Locality:
Age IDLocality Notes
Giersdorf_00000881The main rock units are (from older to younger) metasediments, metavolcanics, Hammamat sediments, granites, and post-tectonic volcanics. The post-tectonic volcanics are represented by trachyte, felsite, granite porphyry, quartz veins, and less comon basic rocks. The alkaline trachyte dikes and sills are the most predominant volcanic rocks. Uranium mineralization occurring at the El Atsha area is mainly associated with a trachyte sill that intruded into the foliated Hammamat sediments.
