Age is derived from a 6 Ma window measured from Pb found in Galena that specifies the duration of the coffinitizaiton process as the source uraninite is altered and remobilized
The lead release effect of the alteration from uraninite to coffinite is calculated to be 6 Ma on this sample, and is the source of the 6 Ma window of alteration time.
