Michelle_842Three different pegmatite bodies, representative of the Santa Maria de Itabira, are situated at the southeastern side of São Francisco Craton and belong to the Eastern Pegmatite Province (PPO). They are related to a magmatism of Brasiliano age. They are being exploited for beryl and gems such as aquamarine, heliodor, colorless topaz and amazonite.
