Jen_0000572Carbonatite occurs at a number of localities on the main island of Brava, particularly in the east central area, but also on the small islands of Ilhéu Luiz Carneiro and Ilhéu de Cima lying about 10 km to the north-northeast. For the purposes of this project these occurrences are taken as one locality. MAGMATIC STYLE: Dykes in basement rocks, ijolite and syenite, irregular intrusions and extrusive rocks including lava flows (Cachaco). ASSOCIATED SILICATE ROCKS: Ijolite, syenite, nepheline syenite, phonolite and nephelinite.
