Trace elements variations place the Shigar Valley pegmatites into syn-collision granite domain. This collision-related magmatism took place when Indian plate collided with the Eurasian plate ~55 to 50 Ma ago (e.g., Molnar and Tapponnier 1975; Petterson and Windley 1985; Beck et al. 1995; Rowley 1996; Bignold and Treloar 2003; Rehman et al. 2011)
