Mineral locality data provided by mindat.org

The Mineral Evolution database is currently under development.

The goal of this page is to present localities at which the mineral is found, and estimates of the oldest possible geologic age of the minerals at these localities.

Michelle_744The Triassic Shinarump member of the Chinle formation hosts the Blue Lizard Mine and other significant uranium deposits in the White Canyon District.
Michelle_745Ore minerals were deposited as replacement of wood and other organic material and as disseminations in the enclosing sandstone found in paleochannels.
Michelle_747The Green Lizard mine is near the head of Low Canyon on the east side of Red Canyon, 2.1 km north of the Blue Lizard mine in the White Canyon mining district, San Juan County, Utah. The mine is geologically similar to the nearby Blue Lizard, Giveaway-Simplot and Markey mines. These mines have been the source of several new secondary uranyl sulfate minerals.
